COVINGTON - Kim Glenn, 26, an engineer at Cinergy and a Fort Mitchell resident, will be sworn in as president with the other new officers Monday night at the Kenton County Democratic Club's annual Christmas Party.
"One of our goals has been trying to get more young people involved in the club and in the Democratic Party," said Steve Hoffman, who will be sworn in as corresponding secretary. "With Kim, we get a young person as president and somebody who can help attract some younger people into the club and into politics.
"To be honest, I was going to run for president," said Hoffman, a former Kenton County Magistrate and longtime Democratic Party activist."But when I found out Kim was interested in running, I just got out of the way."The club's other new officers are Jerry Kitch, vice president; Paul Huffman, treasurer; Joni Burtner, recording secretary and Wyona King, sergeant at arms.
The Christmas Party begins at 6 p.m. at Walt's Hitching Post on Madison Pike in Fort Wright. Cost is $20 and reservations can be made by contacting Hoffman at 859-292-8883, or by e-mail at sljhoffman@fuse.net. A buffet dinner will be served.
Those attending the party are asked to bring a new toy for local charities.
