EATON, Ohio - Vandals broke into a mausoleum and took the head of a corpse from a casket that had been in a vault for about eight years, authorities said.
The grave robbers broke into the Preble Memory Gardens mausoleum overnight Saturday and dragged two caskets from their vaults, breaking into one of them, said Chief Deputy Mike Simpson of the Preble County sheriff's office.
Investigators said they don't believe the vandals targeted a particular casket.
"It is something you hear about in a horror movie, not something that happens in your own little community to people you love," said Caralynn Appenzeller, wife of cemetery owner Dan Appenzeller.
Video slot measure likely to miss ballot
COLUMBUS - Supporters of a proposal to put video slot machines at Ohio's racetracks said Tuesday that time has probably run out on a plan to place the issue before voters in March.
Sen. Lou Blessing, a Cincinnati Republican, said the plan is likely dead because lawmakers can't meet today's deadline to get a constitutional amendment on the primary ballot.
"I'm not putting any blame on anybody except myself," Blessing said.
"It didn't happen because people couldn't agree on how to spend the money - that's the bottom line."

INDIANAPOLIS - Public health officials are warning that Indiana may be in for a severe flu season.
