Nominate young volunteer for award

EAST WALNUT HILLS - Lighthouse Youth Services is taking nominations for the seventh annual Lighthouse Vision Awards.

The awards recognize youth volunteers from 13 to 18.

Nominations can be made in five categories: service to adults or senior citizens, service to youth, service to the community, youth group in service, or service to special needs person.

The deadline for nominations is today. Call Denise Bryers at 487-7113 or download a form from www.lys.org.

All nominees are invited to the Lighthouse Youth Development Summit on Saturday. Five winners will be selected in January.

Finalists will be recognized Feb. 7 and receive $250.

Township prepares block grant request

WEST CHESTER TWP. - Two projects will likely be submitted by trustees to Butler County for the Community Development Block Grant program:

• New and repaired sidewalks from the West Chester post office to the bridge along Cincinnati-Dayton Road in Olde West Chester

• Paving Woodland Hills and Rialto Road from Beckett Road to Port Union Rialto Road.

The deadline for applications is Dec. 19.

Christmas festival and parade Saturday

LEBANON - This Warren County city will take on the aspect of an old-fashioned holiday village Saturday with 130 horse-drawn carriages, strolling carolers, costumed characters and storytellers.

The 15th annual Horse-drawn Carriage Parade and Christmas Festival runs 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Santa Claus will lead the 1 p.m. parade and 7 p.m. candlelight parade.

The festival is free. Shuttle parking is available at the county complex on Justice Drive, and a $5 per-car donation is requested to help pay for the bus service.

Food and coat giveaway at church

LINWOOD - The Ark by the River Fellowship will be giving away coats and canned goods from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at 4928 Eastern Ave.

Christmas parade along Delhi Road

DELHI TOWNSHIP - Delhi Road will be closed Saturday morning for the 13th annual Christmas parade, sponsored by the Delhi Business Association. The parade will start at 9:30 a.m. at St. Dominic Church and end at the Del Fair Shopping Center.

The road will be closed for an hour, officials said.

Craft show at St. John Church

WEST CHESTER TWP. - St. John the Evangelist Church, 9080 Cincinnati-Dayton Road, has a craft show Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parish center.

Items include handmade holiday and seasonal gifts, home decor and clothing .
