'Survivor' casting call lands at the Levee again

The Cincinnati Enquirer

Cincinnati is already the No. 1 market for Survivor, according to CBS. Now it could become the No. 1 place to audition for it.

When: 1-8 p.m. Sunday
Where: Mezzanine level, Gallery Building at Newport on the Levee, Newport. (Exit 5 off I-471). Parking in the Levee garage and in surface lots in the area.

Are you auditioning? We would like to hear from you.

A casting call for a future Survivor will take place Sunday at Newport on the Levee, the same day the show's finale airs. That evening, Newport on the Levee and WKRC (Channel 12) will host an Ultimate Survivor Finale Party from 8-11 p.m. at Gameworks, where fans can watch the last episode of Survivor: Pearl Islands and cheer on Deerfield Township scoutmaster Lillian "Big Lill" Morris.

"We want everyone to see Lillian win," says Wayne Jung, Channel 12's new media marketing manger.

There is a precedent for Survivor contestants and wannabes from the Queen City. In February, about 1,000 people flooded Newport on the Levee to audition for the seventh installment of the reality television show, enduring long lines and fears that time would run out before they could record an audition tape.

This time around, hopefuls will be able to take tickets, instead of waiting in line, and listen for their names to be called over the Levee's loudspeaker. Crews from Channel 12 will staff three cameras instead of two all day. Many Levee stores will offer Survivor-themed specials.

Want to up your chances of getting on the show?

• Arrive early. Organizers expect a similar, if not bigger, turnout for this month's auditions.

• Be prepared. Jung says they saw people last year who didn't know what they wanted to say once they were in front of the camera.

• Be creative. "Creativity is what catches people's eye," Jung says.

• Don't fret if you can't make it Sunday - you can mail CBS a tape.

• If you're selected, plan to take a couple of months off next summer - but don't plan to tell anyone where you're going for a while. "Not only is (the location) a secret," says Survivor casting director Lynne Spillman, "they haven't even picked it yet."
