Heart attack kills missing stepfather

HYDE PARK - A 76-year-old man reported missing by his stepson died nearly a month ago, Cincinnati police said Friday.

George Hauck's stepson reported him missing to police in October, telling authorities he hadn't seen his stepfather since Oct. 16.

Shortly after that, unknown to his stepson, Hauck had gone to stay with friends because he wasn't feeling well.

Hauck suffered a heart attack while dining with friends in November, and died at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood Nov. 13. His friends arranged memorial services at Floral Hills Memorial Garden cemetery in Taylor Mill.

Springfield Township man shot and killed

SPRINGFIELD TWP. - A Springfield Township man was found shot to death in the 8700 block of Neptune Drive early Friday.

Laurice J. Welch, 20, died at the scene of a gunshot wound, township police said. He was found lying on the ground about 5:50 a.m.

Police have not said if the death was the result of foul play, and the death remains under investigation. No other details were released Friday.

Anyone with information is asked to call Springfield Township police at 729-1300.
