ADs discuss leaving early
Conference USA athletic directors discussed the prospect of allowing the University of Cincinnati and four other schools to leave early so they could begin competing in the Big East next year, but no significant progress was made during meetings this week in New York.
"There's still a twinkle in some people's eyes that maybe it could happen, " UC athletic director Bob Goin said, "but I'm not going to bet your salary on it."
UC coach Bob Huggins isn't the only C-USA coach having a difficult time getting his team to rebound. Louisville coach Rick Pitino has been repeating the same lament as he tries to exhort his players to pursue the ball more diligently. The Cardinals were being outrebounded by an average of 42-39 through their first three games.
Former UC and Louisville assistant coach Mick Cronin has won his first six games as a college head coach. The Murray State Racers have outscored opponents by an average of 89-68.
