New county park needs a name

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP - The new park on the rural western edge of Ohio's largest township needs a name. Residents have until Jan. 30 to make suggestions for the 125-acre park along the Great Miami River, one mile south of Ross Bridge along East Miami River Road.

LEBANON: Accident kills young child

Funeral services for 6-year-old Jarod Matthew Bennettwill be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Oswald-Hoskins Funeral Home in Lebanon. He died Friday while attending an after-school care program at Louisa Wright Elementary School. "There was a tragic accident," James W. "Bill" Sears, superintendent of Lebanon Schools said Sunday. Police confirmed Sunday that emergency personnel were called to the school about 5:45 p.m. Friday, and that the child died. Details are expected to be made public today. Sears said parents of all the children in the program were notified and a counselor was available Sunday afternoon at the school. Friday was the last day of school before the holiday recess.

• A free Hot Chocolate Hike starts at 9 a.m. today at Glenwood Gardens, 10405 Springfield Pike, Woodlawn. Children ages 10 and up may attend with an adult. Meet at the gatehouse and bring a mug. Information: 521-7275.

• Take a free ride on the Christmas trolley at Johnny's Toys in Covington, 4314 Boron Drive. Daily, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 5:30-6:30 p.m. through Wednesday. Information: 491-1441.

• The Behringer-Crawford Museum in Devou Park will be open todayand on Dec. 29 because of special exhibits, including holiday toy trains. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Exhibits include a train layout with more than 200 feet of track. Admission: $3 for adults, $2 for students and seniors and $8 for a family of four. Free to members and children under 3.

TRAFFIC WATCH

• Because of a problem with the railroad grade separation, Muhlhauser Road at Ohio 4 will have two lanes of traffic each direction. Muhlhauser is closed from Ohio 4 to North Point. Detour is posted.

• Major widening of Montgomery Road continues in Madeira and Sycamore Township, between Kenwood and Galbraith roads.
