Tree falls onto lift at Perfect North Slopes
LAWRENCEBURG - An uprooted tree fell on a ski lift at Perfect North Slopes Sunday afternoon, injuring one person and shutting down the lift and a slope for at least an hour, witnesses and Perfect North employees said.
One woman, who bounced from the lift to the ground when the lift suddenly stopped at about 2:45 p.m., was aided by the Perfect North ski patrol, then taken to Dearborn County Hospital for evaluation.
After the tree, on the side of a steep slope near chair lift number five, tipped onto the chair lift, ski patrollers and ski instructors evacuated about 120 skiers and snowboarders from the stopped lift.
About 60 Perfect North employees used a rope harness system to lower those stuck on the lift, according to reports from witnesses and Perfect North officials.

"We just heard a huge crash," she said. "The tree just fell right onto the lift."
