34th annual Roger Bacon sports event coming soon

ST. BERNARD - The 34th Annual Roger Bacon Sports Stag will be held Jan. 15 at the school, 4320 Vine St.

The evening begins with a 6:30 p.m. social, followed by dinner and the 7:30 p.m. program.

Mother of Mercy homecoming Jan. 3

WESTWOOD - Mother of Mercy High School is inviting all alumni to the school's Jan. 3 homecoming celebration that begins with an afternoon of basketball.

The event is free to alumni and spouses, but reservations are required. Call 661-2740 to reserve a spot.

Yavneh Day School helps with book sale

SYCAMORE TWP. - Plans are under way for the 2004 Yavneh regional used Jewish books and Judaica regional estate sale.

Donation barrels have been set up in several locations for donations of Jewish books and Judaica.

The sites include Cedar Village, Adath Israel, Ohav Shalom, Wise Temple, Northern Hills Synagogue, Queen City Kosher, Rockdale Temple, Temple Sholom and Cincinnati Hebrew Day School.

To donate large quantities of books, artwork or Judaica, contact Yavneh Day School's development office, 766-3157, or e-mail barabkin@yavneh.org.

Volunteers are needed to collect, sort and mark books throughout the year.

Seven Hills teacher honored by Stanford

MADISONVILLE - The Stanford University Teacher Tribute Initiative recently honored Bob Turansky, head of Seven Hills Upper School's history department.

Seven Hills graduate Gabriel Pagani-Estevez, class of 2003, nominated Turansky for the honor.

He described Turansky as "inspiring, brilliant and hilarious. He made me appreciate some of the subtleties of our complicated world, as well as both the noble and ignoble aspects of human nature."

St. Susanna collects food for the hungry

MASON - Students at St. Susanna School collected more than 100 boxes of food during its recent Harvest for the Hungry service project in conjunction with the parish.

The boxes were given to the Shared Harvest Food Bank and Reach Out Lakota.
