COLUMBUS - Individuals who ignore police orders to disperse at the scenes of riots, fires and other events would face stiffer penalties under a bill signed Tuesday by Gov. Bob Taft.
Offenders would face a fine of up to $250 and 30 days in jail.
Police would still have to warn individuals before arresting them.
New rule for Kentucky child care centers
FRANKFORT - Spacing between the poles on cribs and playpens at state-regulated child care facilities must not be wider than the approximate width of a soda can, according to a new regulation taking effect Jan. 1.
Previously, the regulation only said they had to be "safe," said Mike Jennings, Cabinet for Families and Children.
Former governor home after surgery
INDIANAPOLIS - Former Gov. Robert Orr has been recovering at home after undergoing surgery for prostate and bladder cancer.
Orr had surgery Dec. 9 at Indiana University Medical Center.
