St. Bernard man held in connection to theft
CORRYVILLE - A St. Bernard man was arrested Thursday in connection with a robbery in front of Children's Hospital Medical Center.
The suspect also tried to rob two other people in the nearby Ronald McDonald House parking lot before he was arrested, according to police reports.
Police arrested Ronnell Payne, 28, in Avondale a short time after the robberies. He was charged with three counts of aggravated robbery.
About 2:05 a.m. in front of the hospital, a man walked up to one victim and said: "Give me your money or I will shoot you," police reports said. The victim gave him $5.
Five minutes later, the same man walked up to two people in the Ronald McDonald House parking lot and told them he had a gun. A gun was never seen, and the victims did not give the man any money.
