The Works pizzeria opens in Loveland

LOVELAND - A new restaurant that's been in the works for several months opened for business last weekend. The Works, a brick-oven pizzeria and eatery, is at 20 Grear Millitzer Way in downtown Loveland.

Situated in a historic building that has housed the city's electrical plant, waterworks and fire station, The Works serves wood-fired pizza, appetizers, salads, pasta dishes and other entrees for lunch and dinner. There is a full bar.

Owner Scott Gordon said hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Silverglades starts up fourth location

DOWNTOWN - A fourth Silverglade's location opened Nov. 24 in The Renaissance At The Power Building, Eighth and Sycamore streets.

Silverglade's on 8th sells deli items, produce, specialty meats, salads, imported cheese, hot meals to go and wines. The delicatessen/restaurant also features a full coffee bar. Box lunches are available, as are catering services.

The family business dates back to 1922, when Al Silverglade's parents opened a cheese stall in Findlay Market. Today, Al and his sons Craig and Michael run the company.

The new deli is open 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Information: 361-0600.

Web store offers gift baskets, more

EVENDALE - eBusiness Ltd. has developed a Web gift store that features the products of well-known retailers.

The site, www.egifts.ws, offers gift baskets, artwork, jewelry, flowers, toy cars, camping gear, wine and food. Most of the prices are below retail, and some are tax-free, according to Joseph Kuhns, who founded eBusiness Ltd. with Steve Wolff in October.

Secondhand store accepts donations

LATONIA - Used household items and clothing for adults and children are available at a new store at 3600 Winston Ave.

Small Blessings was started by a group of friends who are staffing the new shop on a volunteer basis. Small Blessings is independent of any church or social service organization, although it will work in tandem with Action Ministries of Northern Kentucky in its outreach efforts.

All profits will go to help those in need in the Latonia and Covington communities, spokeswoman Michelle Walter said.

Operating hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Donations of used items in good condition can be accepted during those hours.

Takeout, delivery now in Pendleton

PENDLETON - Hot homestyle meals are available for takeout or delivery from a new restaurant in the Pendleton Arts District.

Momgin's Restaurant offers traditional items such as chicken, beef or pork barbecue, double-decker sandwiches and burgers, wings, vegetables and side dishes, sodas and snacks. There are also homemade desserts.

The family-operated business will deliver orders ($20 minimum) to an office or home. A shaded picnic table outdoors is available for those who want to eat on-site.

The restaurant is at 426 E. 13th St., at the corner of Pendleton and 13th streets. It is open 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday-Saturday.

Collision repair facility reopens

EASTGATE - The former Collision Center at 4425 Aicholtz Road has reopened as True Quality Collision Centers, according to Jack M. Staun, TQC's marketing manager.

"The collision repair facility specializes in the coordination of insurance automobile claims work," Staun said, adding that the company will pick up damaged vehicles and deliver them once they are fixed.

TQC is a direct repair source for nine insurance companies, and will make arrangements for rental cars for customers while their cars are in the shop.

Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday. TQC also has a location in Fairfield.

New book launches Blueline publishing

DOWNTOWN - Blueline Editorial LLC has expanded into publishing with the publication of its first book.

Blueline Publications has produced Alligator Annie: The Biography of Annie Miller by Deborah Rose Burton.

"A renowned conservationist, Annie Miller - of southern Louisiana - is a former professional snake handler, alligator hunter, animal trainer and Louisiana Businesswoman of the Year," said Phil Paradis, owner of Blueline Editorial and Blueline Publications.

The new company will publish fiction and nonfiction as well as business-related books. Blueline Publications publishes in print and electronic formats and offers prepress services that include copywriting, editing, layout and graphic design. Post-publication services include marketing and distribution.

Mediterranean restaurant new

DOWNTOWN - This fall, a restaurant in the Crowne Plaza building has offered diners its own take on Mediterranean food. Mejana celebrated its grand opening in late September.

Owner Sami Awad is a businessman who emigrated last spring from the United Arab Emirates.

His wife, Sohair, is Mejana's chef and kitchen manager, while sons Mutaz and Sam help out when they're not in school.

"Our specialty is grilled meats - lamb, chicken and beef - but we also serve vegetarian dishes," Sami Awad said.

"We have baklava and other Mediterranean desserts, all homemade."

The restaurant, at 25 W. Sixth St., is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday-Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
