Rutgers upsets No. 18 Ohio State

Top 25 women

The Associated Press

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Cappie Pondexter scored the game's final seven points - including a decisive 3-point basket with 5.4 seconds remaining - to give Rutgers a 56-53 win Sunday over No. 18 Ohio State.

Rutgers (7-4) was trailing 53-49 when Pondexter made a 3-pointer with 1:09 to play to pull Rutgers within a point. Ohio State (9-3) turned over the ball on the ensuing possession, and Jessica Davenport fouled Pondexter with 23 seconds to go. Pondexter tied the game by making one of two free throws, and Chelsea Newton rebounded the miss to set up the winner. OSU's Kim Wilburn was unable to get a shot off in the final five seconds.

It marked the second victory over a top-25 team for Rutgers, which improved to 6-0 at home.
