WALNUT HILLS - A two-alarm fire Monday afternoon caused an estimated $120,000 in damage to a brick apartment building at Melrose Avenue and William Howard Taft Road.
A woman, who was not identified, escaped from a rear exit of the building at 2540 Melrose and was treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation, Cincinnati Fire officials said. There were no other injuries.
Firefighters were called to the building shortly after 1:30 p.m. and found heavy fire in a lower apartment, Cincinnati Fire Capt. Dan Merz said.
Two apartments and the building's roof were damaged by fire, while the rest of the building sustained smoke damage, he said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
About 35 firefighters were on the scene for more than 90 minutes.
