Nicole Kidman is close to signing a deal for the lead role in Bewitched, the big-screen adaptation of the '60s TV series, reports Empire Online.
Kidman would play Samantha, a housewife, mother and witch, famous for her domestic mishaps and broomstick rides.
Rising star and Saturday Night Live alum Will Ferrell (Elf, Old School) has signed on as Samantha's husband, Darrin, after early contender Jim Carrey dropped out.
Filming is set to begin in April.
Meanwhile, Kidman's ex-husband Tom Cruise has apparently jumped on the superhero bandwagon, saying he's working on a deal to play the lead in a Hollywood version of Marvel Comics' Iron Man.
"He's a fascinating character, but we've got to figure out how it's going to work," Cruise said. "And everyone is doing a Marvel character these days.
"How do we make that new, create something fresh where it doesn't feel like: 'Oh, here comes another superhero story?'"
Iron Man is the alter ego of billionaire Tony Stark, who must wear an armored breastplate to protect his injured heart. Between running a company and dealing with alcoholism, he fights bad guys with the aid of an incredibly advanced suit of armor and a large array of weaponry.
