Hearing delayed in Twitty case
A court hearing to determine if a criminal conviction will be erased against Cincinnati's former highest ranking black police officer was rescheduled Thursday for later this month because he was at his stepson's burial.
Ron Twitty, a former assistant Cincinnati police chief, pleaded no contest to a charge of attempting to obstruct a police investigation in 2002. As part of a plea agreement, Twitty left the department to end the criminal case against him over damage to his city-owned car.
Twitty is eligible for the expungement - or having the conviction sealed - because it was his first criminal conviction.
Hamilton County Prosecutor Mike Allen said his office will fight the request. A hearing before Hamilton County Common Pleas Court Judge Beth Myers is scheduled for Jan. 22.
Twitty's stepson Allen Shannon, 30, was killed last month in Bond Hill.
Internet user charged in sex-video case
A Fairfield man is facing a list of charges after Hamilton County sheriff's deputies say he broadcast via the Internet a video showing him engaged in sex acts with a 7-year-old girl.
Mark A. Davenport, 29, is charged with two counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance, and one count of importuning, both felonies. Police said Davenport engaged in a conversation in an Internet chat room with Hamilton County Sheriff's Detective Rick Sweeney, who was posing as a 14-year-old girl.
During the conversation, Davenport played the video and described his actions, police say.
Two more stores may have sold bad fuel
Two Swifty stores - at 613 Reading Road in Mason and 1273 South U.S. 68 in Urbana - have been added to the list of Marathon Ashland Petroleum outlets thought to have sold kerosene tainted with gasoline.
The new additions bring to 13 the number of stores in the region suspected of having sold the dangerous combination.
Gasoline mixed into kerosene is hazardous because it can cause a fire or an explosion if used in a space heater or lantern. Questions should be directed to Marathon, at (800) 892-3418.
