The Cincinnati Enquirer
The two groups that represent Cincinnati police officers - groups that often have been at odds with each other - are working together to produce an anti-violence plan.
The presidents of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Sentinel Police Association - which represents black officers - sent letters this week to the presidents of all 52 neighborhood community councils. The letter invites them to a private meeting Wednesday with the executive boards of both groups, where they will talk about working together to combat violence.
Officials wanted the meeting closed to the general public and the media so that everyone felt freer to talk, said Sgt. Harry Roberts, new FOP president. After the meeting, they'll announce what action they decide to take, said Sgt. Harry Roberts, new FOP president.
Scotty Johnson, Sentinels president, could not be reached for comment late Friday.
