COLUMBUS - Ohio State coach Jim Tressel promoted two assistants to be co-defensive coordinators Thursday.
Linebackers coach Mark Snyder and safeties coach Mel Tucker will replace Mark Dantonio, who was hired as head coach at Cincinnati.
Luke Fickell, OSU's special teams coordinator since 2002, will take over as linebackers coach. Tucker will continue to coach the Buckeyes' secondary. Jim Heacock will coach the defensive line.
KANSAS STATE: Quarterback Ell Roberson apologized for his conduct before last week's 35-28 loss to Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl.
"I had no idea how my decisions that night would affect my teammates and everyone associated with Kansas State University," Roberson said in a statement.
A 22-year-old woman said Roberson sexually assaulted her early Jan. 1 at the team's hotel. Roberson, who was not charged, acknowledged having sex with the woman but said it was consensual.
Coach Bill Snyder has stripped Roberson of his scholarship for the spring semester and said he would not receive a Fiesta Bowl ring.
OKLAHOMA: Lombardi Award winner Tommie Harris, an All-America defensive tackle, will forgo his senior season and enter the NFL draft.
CLEMSON: Wide receiver Derrick Hamilton and defensive tackle Donnell Washington will give up their final years of eligibility to enter the NFL draft.
