After what they said was a monthlong investigation, North College Hill police charged a 38-year-old man with drug trafficking.
Melvin Riley, of Linden Drive, was charged Friday with possession of drugs and trafficking drugs in the vicinity of a juvenile, police said.
The arrest occurred at H & R Carryout at 6480 Betts Ave. Riley had worked at the store for six months, said the store's owner, Ron Harris, who said he had no knowledge of any drug sales.
Woman dies from injuries in car crash
A 79-year-old Hillsboro woman died Saturday from injuries caused by a three-car accident in New Market Township, Highland County.
Reta M. Cochran, of Hillsboro, was stopped at a stop sign in the westbound lane of U.S. 50 and waiting to turn left into a private drive when her car was hit from behind by a pickup truck driven by Phillip A. Loudin, 36, of 7056 Cherri Drive, Hillsboro.
According to a report by the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Wilmington, Cochran's car rotated counterclockwise into the eastbound lane and was struck again by a car driven by Christopher P. Roser, 46, of Erlanger.
Cochran was pronounced dead at Miami Valley Hospital. A passenger in Roser's vehicle was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
State police are investigating.
Mother hurt when husband veered off
FORT WRIGHT - A 28-year-old Fort Wright woman was seriously injured Sunday evening when a car driven by her husband went off the road near their home on Park Road.
Jennifer Roose was transported by Air Care helicopter to University Hospital, said Fort Wright Police Sgt. Randall Newsom.
Thomas Roose was driving when the car went off the left side of the roadway and hit two trees, Newsom said. Mrs. Roose, who was riding in the back seat, was partially ejected.
Mr. Roose told police he had fallen asleep. He was not injured nor was the couple's infant son who was in a child-restraint seat, police said.
House fire evicts six college students
A fire ripped through a two-story house in Clifton Sunday morning, leaving six college students displaced.
The fire at 28 W. Nixon St. was reported at 6:05 a.m., said Paul Weber, district fire chief with the Cincinnati Fire Department.
The house, which was heavily damaged, was home to six students at the University of Cincinnati, Weber said. One of the students was taken to University Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it is not considered suspicious, Weber said.
Man shot in leg near Findlay Market
Gunshots were fired into a store near Findlay Market Sunday afternoon, wounding a man in the leg, Cincinnati police said.
No arrest has been made.
The man was taken to University Hospital and was in stable condition, police said.
