Governors outline new proposals
The governors of Kentucky and Indiana both face huge budget deficits, but each took a different approach during their State of the State addresses Tuesday night. Kentucky Gov. Ernie Fletcher, the first Republican elected governor since 1967, touted overhauling the state's tax code. Meanwhile, Indiana Gov. Joe Kernan barely touched on the state's lingering budget woes during his address, calling for full-day kindergarten, enhanced workforce training and the line-item veto.
Priscilla recalls 'Elvis and Me'
DOWNTOWN - Since creating Elvis Presley Enterprises and opening Graceland to the public in 1982, Priscilla Presley has seen the value of Elvis' estate increase from $3 million to $250 million. Presley kicked off the 2004 Smart Talk Women's Lecture Series on Tuesday with a speech titled "Elvis and Me" at the Aronoff Center.
Speakers highlight of Sunday Salons
HAMILTON COUNTY - Sunday Salons - a series of brunches, lunches, teas and suppers featuring speakers - will raise money this winter for the Rape Crisis and Abuse Center of Hamilton County. Sunday Salons begin Feb. 8 and end March 28. They are held in various Cincinnati homes.
