Mason annexation approved by county
LEBANON - Warren County commissioners on Tuesday approved Mason's annexation of about 11 acres from Deerfield Township. The land is at Snider and Western Row roads.
Mason officials wanted the annexation so the city can improve the intersection. with turn lanes, bridge replacement, a traffic signal and other changes.
Tribute to King co-sponsored at UC
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS - Three University of Cincinnati organizations, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, the United Black Student Association and the African American Cultural and Research Center, are co-sponsoring a tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. today on campus.
It begins at 6:06 p.m., when participants will assemble on McMicken Commons for a "March of Remembrance."

Mariemont approves maintenance building
MARIEMONT - A $300,000 state-of-the-art maintenance building will be constructed in this eastern Hamilton County village, council members voted late Monday.
The one-story facility will rise in the village's three-acre industrial park off Old Wooster Pike near the Fairfax border, Mayor Dan Policastro said.
The village's maintenance equipment has outgrown its current quarters in the 6,000-square-foot Resthaven barn on Cambridge Avenue.
Gettler to head SORTA trustees
Benjamin Gettler was elected chairman of the board of trustees at the annual meeting in Cincinnati Tuesday of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, transit officials said.
Gettler was chairman of the Cincinnati Transit Co. when it was sold to SORTA in 1973, and has served on its board 13 years.
Suburban orchestra granted $26,105
HAMILTON _ The Hamilton Fairfield Symphony Orchestra will receive a grant of $26,105, according to Paul Stanbery, music director/conductor.
"We were absolutely delighted by this gift from the Louis and Louise Nippert Charitable Foundation, and are especially pleased that they were interested in supporting our David L. Belew American Masters Concerts and the Mozart Festival, as two unique offerings to the musical scene in Greater Cincinnati," Stanbery said.
"It will allow us to continue our tradition of high quality orchestral performances either free or at reduced cost."
