Texas sends No. 4 Wake Forest to 1st loss
The Associated Press
AUSTIN, Texas - Freshman P.J. Tucker scored 21 points and No. 18 Texas cranked up the nation's highest-scoring offense to hand No. 4 Wake Forest its first loss of the season, 94-81 Tuesday night.
Brandon Mouton added 17 points for the Longhorns (10-2), who ran their home winning streak to 24 games in front of a school-record crowd of 16,837 at the Frank Erwin Center.
It was the most impressive win of the season for Texas, which struggled in its other two games against top-10 opponents - Duke and Arizona - and lost both.
Justin Gray scored 27 points for Wake Forest (11-1), which nearly rallied with a flurry of late 3-pointers but came up short with starters Eric Williams and Jamaal Levy spending the last six minutes of the game on the bench after fouling out.
