Gannett News Service

Must-see

The Apprentice (8 p.m., Channels 5, 22), The Simple Life (8:30 p.m., Channels 19, 45) and The Bachelorette (9 p.m., Channels 9, 2).

Choices pile up tonight. It's the end of The Simple Life, the beginning of Meredith Phillips' complicated dating life and the continuation of Donald Trump's TV dictatorship.

The Simple Life has been odd fun, following heiresses Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie in small-town Arkansas. Often, they seemed likable and even pleasant. They did not do well with obstacles, however.

That peaked last week when Richie - convinced someone had stolen her purse - dumped bleach on the pool table in the town bar. Trust us on this: Small-town bars really don't like to have their pool tables bleached. Tonight, Richie faces their wrath and the women head home.

On The Bachelorette, Phillips does the choosing. She's 30, a Hollywood makeup person who reached the final three in the recent Bachelor, while remaining an enigma to viewers.

And on The Apprentice, which slides into its regular timeslot after premiering last week, Trump still has 15 hot-wired young business people vying to be president of one of his divisions. Tonight, they tackle a provocative ad campaign.

Other shows worth watching

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, 8 p.m., Channels 12, 7. Here's a new episode transplanted to blunt competition from The Apprentice. Grissom (William Petersen) investigates the murder of someone who reminds him of Sara (Jorja Fox).

King of Queens, 9 p.m., Channels 12, 7. When Arthur (Jerry Stiller) wins big at bingo, his daughter and son-in-law covet the money.

Becker, 9:30 p.m., Channels 12, 7. Becker, who manages to complain about many things, is unhappy about the possibility of a winter vacation in Bermuda.

Law & Order, 10 p.m., Channels 5, 22. Was a man killed because he was a bookie, or because he was a police informant?
