WEST CHESTER TWP. - Sandra Franjoine reported she was a victim of repeated crimes - but police have charged her with making false complaints, and they're investigating other possible crimes.
Franjoine, 37, a divorced mother of two, was arrested Tuesday and appeared Wednesday in Butler County Area II Court, Hamilton, on charges of committing insurance fraud and filing false reports of burglary, theft and menacing. Sgt. Steve Oakes said Franjoine collected at least $10,000 in insurance after reporting her home was burglarized and spray-painted in October.
Franjoine also is accused of stealing more than $56,000 from her ex-employer, Sundance Property Management, in Blue Ash. She also charged items at Home Depot and Lowe's for her home, the record says. Sundance Vice President Deborah Kitching declined to comment.
Franjoine's bond was set at $8,000.
Meanwhile, Franjoine "has definitely become a focal point in the investigation" of a Christmas Day arson that caused $150,000 damage to her home, Oakes said.
A detective is also trying to learn whether Franjoine improperly collected from a fund that neighbors established to help her in the wake of the fire, Oakes said.
