Four charged in multi-car vandalism

MIAMI TWP. - Four Kings High School students have been charged in the vandalism of about 50 cars in three communities over the weekend of Nov. 30. Damage was estimated at $25,000.

Steve Breuer, 19, and Luke A Padgett, 18, both of Loveland, and two juveniles are facing criminal damage charges.

Vehicles in Miami Township, Loveland and Symmes Township were damaged, including $10,000 in damage to a Hummer2 in Miami Township.

One of the boys told investigators that the spree began with vandalism to mailboxes before they turned to cars, police said.

Loveland Police Chief Dennis Rees said authorities will seek restitution for the victims.

Homeowner nabs robbery suspect

MONROE - Responding to a burglary in progress, city police had little trouble catching the suspect: A citizen had already tied him up.

Gary Orick, 35, told police he arrived at his home in the 3300 block of South Main Street on Tuesday evening and discovered an intruder was wearing his jacket, kneeling by his bed.

Orick said he struck the intruder in the head, wrestled him to the ground, used an extension cord to restrain him, then asked a neighbor to call police, a report says.

The intruder, identified as a 14-year-old boy who lives nearby, was arrested on a delinquency count of aggravated burglary.

After police read the youth his rights, he told them that he entered Orick's trailer through an unlocked front door. But police said they later learned he had entered through a window.

Pedestrian reports being stabbed

COLERAIN TWP. - An elementary school was locked down for a short time Wednesday after a man said he had been stabbed in the 3100 block of Springdale Road.

The 24-year-old man told police he was walking down Springdale about 10:30 a.m. when a stranger approached him, displayed a knife and stabbed him twice in the chest, Hamilton County sheriff's spokesman Steve Barnett said.

The victim was taken to Mercy Franciscan Hospital with minor injuries, Barnett said.

Taylor Elementary School nearby was on lockdown for about an hour after the incident, school officials said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office 825-1500 or Crime Stoppers at 352-3040.

Bank robber gets away in Oldsmobile

SPRINGFIELD TWP. - A man held up the PNC Bank at 8425 Vine St. at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. The robber got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, Springfield Township police said.

The man got into an Oldsmobile Cutlass displaying a temporary license tag. The vehicle went south on Jedwin Street and then west on Galbraith Road.

The man is black, 25-30 years old, about 5-feet-11, thin to medium build with a goatee, police said. He was wearing a bright blue sweat suit, a blue baseball cap and sunglasses.

Anyone with information is asked to call Springfield Township police at 729-1300 or Crime Stoppers at 352-3040.
