AK Steel adds $30-a-ton charge

AK Steel has joined a number of steel makers announcing price increases and surcharges. The Middletown steel maker said it will add a $30-a-ton surcharge on its electrical sheet and strip products effective with Feb. 1 shipments. A $30-a-ton surcharge was also implemented on carbon sheet shipments this month. The surcharges were implemented to reflect the sharp rise in raw material costs, the company said.

Cinergy raises quarterly dividend

The board of Cinergy Corp. Thursday agreed to raise the quarterly dividend for the utility holding company by a penny a share. The dividend will increase from 46 to 47 cents a share for shareholders of record Jan. 30. The dividend will be paid Feb. 15. The company said the increase, the second in as many years, will raise the annual dividend from $1.84 to $1.88 a share.

Advance adds two parts stores

Advance Auto Parts is expanding its presence in Greater Cincinnati with the opening of two new stores. The new locations will be at 4424 W. Mitchell Ave. in Avondale and 10920 New Haven Road in Harrison. The openings will bring the company's total to five stores in Greater Cincinnati.
