Radio personality Jason "Statt Man" Statt is used to roughing it for a good cause.
Statt, of WUBE (B-105), has set up camp in the lobby of the Albert B. Sabin Cincinnati Convention Center as part of a Camping for Kids fund-raiser during the 46th annual Cincinnati Travel, Sports & Boat Show, which runs through Sunday.
Statt, who camps out in vans and tents to raise money for charity, moved into his temporary digs last Friday and said he intends to stay put through the end of the show this weekend. During his stay, he is doing live interviews and on-air call-ins to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House.
"I am just trying to raise as much money as I can," Statt said. "... I have not set a goal. I just try to raise at least $100 a day. So far, I have achieved that goal.''
Country artist Craig Morgan, whose hit record Every Friday Afternoon is climbing the charts, spent two hours with Statt from 7-9 p.m. Thursday and performed an acoustic set of his music. To help, call 721-1050.
Accountant helps GOP
A local certified public accountant will have a hand in helping shape policies, tax laws and other issues related to business for the Republican Party.
Randy Howard, 53, co-owner of Howard and Nunn Inc., a tax service in Anderson Township, has been appointed by the National Republican Congressional Committee to serve on the Business Advisory Council for Ohio.
His tax background is expected to play a crucial role in the Republican Party's efforts to involve top businesspeople in the process of government reform.
Howard grew up in Dayton and received his degree in accounting from Wright State University in 1972. He passed the test to become a certified public accountant in 1974 and started the business in 1984.
He is a divorced father of three children.
