NKU women lose series to Quincy

The Cincinnati Enquirer

QUINCY, Ill. - Jessica Stuckman and Lisa Farrell combined for 31 points Thursday night as the Quincy University women's basketball team posted a 61-52 win over Northern Kentucky University.

Stuckman finished with 16 points as Quincy swept the season series from NKU for the first time in series history. Farrell added 15 points as the Lady Hawks - ranked No. 12 in the NCAA Division II poll - improved to 13-2 overall, 7-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Quincy held a 27-23 halftime lead after holding NKU (10-4, 5-3 GLVC) to just 30 percent shooting. The Lady Hawks opened the second half with a 12-3 run to build a 39-26 advantage, and Quincy extended its lead to as many as 19 points.

Connie Myers led No. 22 NKU with 22 points and nine rebounds, and Karmen Graham added nine points. The Norse, however, committed 12 of their 16 turnovers in the second half and were just 3-for-14 from three-point range.

Jessica Brock scored eight points and added seven rebounds for NKU. The Norse will play at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville at 2 p.m. Saturday.
