Play leads to mock trial for literary character



In the schools

NORWOOD - Juniors and seniors at Immaculate Conception Academy recently wrote and performed the play The People vs. Montresor, based on Edgar Allan Poe's short story The Cask of Amontillado.

The premise of the students' play is that the killer, Montresor, is charged with the murder of his enemy Fortunato. After the students performed their courtroom drama, underclassmen formed a jury, which decided there was insufficient evidence to convict Montresor.

Seven Hills player Keller an All-American

MADISONVILLE - Seven Hills Upper School senior and soccer midfielder Susie Keller was named to the 2003 NSCAA/Adidas Girls High School All-America Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Susie was voted Most Valuable Player and was named All-State (Division II) First Team, Division II Player of the Year for Southwest Ohio, and Miami Valley Conference Co-Player of the Year.

St. Antoninus: Poster contest winner

COVEDALE - St. Antoninus School seventh-grader Christy Allen came in first place in a poster contest sponsored by the Catholic War Veterans.

The theme was "Keep Christ in Christmas."

Vintage clothing sale at St. Ursula Academy

EAST WALNUT HILLS - St. Ursula Academy's Ensemble Theater is holding its annual vintage clothing sale 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the school theater, 1309 E. McMillan St.

Proceeds will help defray the costs of the group's trip to Scotland in August to perform at the Fringe Festival.

'Oliver' on stage at St. Catherine of Siena

FORT THOMAS - Sixth- through eighth-grade students at St. Catherine of Siena School will present Oliver at 7:15 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the undercroft, 23 Rossford Ave.

Tickets are $5. For an additional $10, a prime rib or chicken dinner will be available at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Breakfast, open house at St. John Evangelist

DEER PARK - St. John the Evangelist School will hold a pancake breakfast 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sunday followed by an open house noon-1 p.m. Cost is $5, $3 for children 12 or younger.
