West Chester looks for park funding

WEST CHESTER TWP. - How to pay for township parks after the November park levy failure will be discussed at the West Chester Township trustees budget work session at 4 p.m. today at Township Hall, 9100 Centre Pointe Drive.

Parks "have been a real drain," says Judi Carter, assistant township administrator. "We'll ask the trustees how they want us to fund this department."

Volunteers sought for Heritage Festival

MASON - Volunteers are being recruited to help lead the annual Heritage Festival.

Warren investments short of projection

LEBANON - Investment return projections made by Treasurer Jim LeFevers fell almost $500,000 short for 2003, he told Warren County commissioners Tuesday.

The general fund received almost $2.56 million in interest from investments, instead of the $3 million LeFevers had projected.

Whitewater wants scenic river study

WHITEWATER TWP. - Another community in western Hamilton County has joined ranks with Colerain Township to request that the Ohio Department of Natural Resources do a scenic river study of the Great Miami River.

Whitewater Township trustees voted for the study Monday evening, two months after trustees in Colerain did the same.

If the study is voted on by all the communities that border the river in western Hamilton County, the state will perform a study to see if the river qualifies for state scenic river status.

Anderson park board seeks to fill opening

ANDERSON TWP. - There is an opening on this community's park board overseeing the operation of the township's park district.

The opening comes as Julie Stautberg leaves the board to assume a municipal judgeship, a position ruled incompatible with continued park board service.

Letters of interest should be received at the Anderson Township Government Center offices, 7954 Beechmont Ave., 45255 by Feb. 11 at noon.

Raper RV dealership preparing to open

FAIRFIELD - A big Tom Raper RV sign has replaced the Furrow sign on Dixie Highway (Ohio 4), as the Indiana recreational vehicle and camper trailer company prepares to open its first Greater Cincinnati store in Butler County on Feb. 14.

Raper already has installed a glass-pane garage door in the front of the former hardware store at 5300 Dixie Highway to move RVs and trailers into the 37,000 square-foot showroom. The six-acre site is being leased from Jim Bonaminio, owner of Jungle Jim's International Market, one block south.
