LSI Industries reports rise in revenue and earnings

LSI Industries Inc., the Blue Ash lighting and graphics maker, reported double-digit increases in earnings and revenue for the second quarter, fueled by a 20 percent increase in petroleum/convenience store sales.

For the three months ended Dec. 31, LSI said net income rose 49 percent to $4 million, or 20 cents a share, from $2.7 million, or 13 cents a share, a year ago. The consensus estimate among analysts was for 16 cents a share.

Revenues rose 12 percent to $64.1 million from $57.3 million a year ago. The company said lighting sales rose 19 percent and graphics business rose 1 percent from a year ago.

LSI's shares closed up 98 cents at $14.37 in Wednesday's trading.

Also:

• Reynolds and Reynolds Co.: The Dayton provider of information management systems reported net income of $24 million, or 34 cents a share, for the fiscal first quarter, compared with $26 million or 36 cents a year ago. First-quarter earnings include about 5 cents a share of costs associated with steps taken to improve the company's documents business and other companywide initiatives during the quarter. Revenues of $248 million were slightly higher than a year ago. Shares closed down $2.94 to $26.77.
