Washington Junior invites alumni to observe its 50th

HAMILTON - Alumni of George Washington Junior High School are invited to a Jan. 30 celebration of the school's 50 years.

The school, which opened in 1954, is slated to close at the end of the school year when the new Freshman School opens. Seventh- and eighth-graders will attend either Wilson or Garfield as part of a 10-year, $198 million school improvement program.

Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. and events run from 6-9 p.m., including a homecoming dance for current students and alumni from 7-9 p.m. Other activities include a 30-minute, 6 p.m. basketball game that pits current students against alumni, a 6:30 p.m. school trivia contest, class photos, building tours and a room devoted to memorabilia.

Lakota administrators to hold open house

LIBERTY TWP. - The Lakota Schools' administrative team is opening its doors to the community six months after moving into its new offices on Princeton Road.

An official from the Southeast Butler County Chamber of Commerce will open Monday's open house with a ribbon cutting. The offices, at 5572 Princeton Road, will remain open until 7:30 p.m. for tours and to answer questions.

The move allowed the district's Wokini Academy alternative school to move out of rented space and into the former administrative office on Tylersville Road.

Fairfield students to collect for charity

FAIRFIELD - Elementary school children throughout the Fairfield Schools will be bringing change to school next week for the Souper Bowl Challenge 2004.

Whichever building collects the most money by Jan. 30 will be treated to a visit by the senior high school's varsity football team. The money will be donated to the Fairfield Food Pantry.

Mason Schools registration now open

MASON - Registrations are now being accepted for Mason Schools' students in grades 2-6 who want to participate in the Saturday enrichment program called Navigate Opportunities With Various Adventures.

Among the offerings are classes in art, dance, science, photography, German, history, rocketry and poetry. Classes run from 9-10:30 a.m. or 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. every other week from Jan. 31 through March 27.

Kings Red Helmet banquet Sunday

DEERFIELD TWP. - Kings High School's Red Helmet Club will have its end-of-season banquet at 5 p.m. Sunday at Shaker Run Golf Course.

The 135-member Red Helmet Club was formed this year for Kings Knights parents, alumni and football fans to provide an way to show support for Knights football. The banquet is free to club members and $5 for non-members. For reservations call 398-7577.
