CORRYVILLE - Police hope the arrest of a man suspected of stealing a woman's purse at gunpoint might solve a string of street robberies.
Officers planned to talk with Paris Blye to see if he's connected to other unsolved street robberies in recent weeks around Highland and Glendora avenues, said neighborhood Officer Alex Hasse.
Blye, 18, of Mount Auburn, was arrested early Thursday after Officers Jeremy Howard, Kris Holtman and Len LaBrecque used a night-vision scope to find him in an alley off Corry Street. They also found a BB gunas well as the victim's purse and money.
Court records say Blye admitted to stealing the purse from a woman in front of the Highland Coffee House about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. He was charged with aggravated robbery and drug abuse. Records said officers found 40 grams of marijuana.
The rash of robberies - sometimes with a gun, other times a gun was implied - started in late December, Hasse said.
"It's something we've been watching," he said.
