Confirmations done in Spanish
By Maggie Downs The Cincinnati Enquirer
HAMILTON - Cincinnati Archbishop Daniel E. Pilarczyk confirmed 11 children at St Julie Billiart Church on Sunday.
In Spanish.
The children, ages 12 to 15, are Hispanic.
Hamilton has the area's highest concentration of Hispanics. The local Hispanic population also represents an increasingly large percentage of Catholics in the archdiocese, said Dan Andriacco, director of communications.
The homily was delivered in Spanish by Pilarczyk, who can speak the language but is not fluent. He is, however, fluent in Italian and Latin.
Pilarczyk confirmed a class of Hispanics last year in Dayton as well. "It's always moving to experience the catholicity of the church," he said.
