Local bowlers raised $4,312 for Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center during the 98th annual Greater Cincinnati Bowling Association City Championship Tournament.
There were 114 teams in this year's event, held this month. That's 13 more than last year.
Winners (with scores in parentheses) were:
Classic Team scratch (3600) and Classic Team handicap (3608) - Pollard's Bowl of Versailles, Ind. (Ron Pollard, Rick Pollard, Duane Hatton, Dave Welage and Don Scudder).
Handicap Team (3467) - The Yard Dogs of Vevay, Ind.
Scratch doubles (1477) - Donald Daniels and Andrew Ehlers; Dave Welage and Ron Pollard.
Handicap Doubles (1517) - Donald Daniels and Andrew Ehlers.
Scratch Singles (754) Willie Dean.
Handicap Singles (831) - Andrew Tipton.
Scratch All Events and Handicap All Events (2178) - Steve Fehr.
The Masters Tournament will be Feb. 15 at Western Bowl in Bridgetown.
Eye care basics is topic at senior center
HAMILTON - An ophthalmologist will speak at the Hamilton Senior Center Wednesday at 1 p.m.
Dr. David R. Adam, who practices in Hamilton and Oxford, will discuss "Eye Care Basics" in a free one-hour presentation.
Adam will take questions about a variety of eye care basics, such as taking vitamins to improve eyesight and doing eye exercises.
Reservations are required. To reserve a seat, please call Jeananne Dutze, membership clerk, at 867-1998.
The program is one of many offered by Senior Citizens Inc.
Grant helps put police behind counter
MASON - The Cops in Shops program will continue thanks to an $8,900 grant from the Ohio Department of Public Safety/ Governor's Highway Safety Office.
The program pairs police officers with store clerks to stop underage people from buying alcohol.
Enforcement has already started and will continue through September.
