MOUNT ST. JOSEPH - The multicultural development office at the College of Mount St. Joseph will host several events in February to celebrate Black History Month and the 50th anniversary of Brown vs. Board of Education.
The kickoff will be 3 p.m.Monday in Recital Hall. Speaker T. Leon Williams will discuss what the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. might say today if he could create an addendum to his "I Have a Dream" speech.
Performing artist Byron Motley will present "Oh How They Lived - Stories of the Negro Baseball League," 1-3 p.m. Feb. 16 in Recital Hall.
At 7 p.m. Feb. 28, students can experience cultural awareness night in College Theatre, featuring Naturally 7 and Break, music and dance performances. Admission is $1 per person or 2 canned goods for charity.

Thomas More College honors patron saint
TMC - In celebration of Thomas More College's patron saint, St. Thomas More, the campus will host a week of activities starting Sunday.
Events begin 2 p.m. that day with the Caden Blincoe Outloud Festival in Science Lecture Hall in the administration building.
The event celebrates Kentucky writers and features Appalachian author George Ella Lyon.
The Northern Kentucky Brotherhood Singers will perform 12:30-1:30 p.m. Feb. 6. It is the only a cappella group in the Kentucky State Folk Arts Program of the Kentucky Arts Council.

UD to break ground on fitness center
UD - University of Dayton will break ground this spring on a $25.3 million fitness and recreation complex that will be more than twice the size of the nearly 30-year old center on campus.
"RecPlex'' is part of UD's master plan to revitalize student facilities on the highly residential campus. Construction of the complex, which will be funded through user fees, begins in May.
School officials say they expect the new building to be finished by January 2006.
The 125,470 square-foot, three-story brick center is proposed to include classrooms; courts for basketball, volleyball, sand volleyball, racquetball, floor hockey, lacrosse, tennis and other activities; a climbing wall; eight-lane natatorium; whirlpool; an elevated indoor track; aerobics and cardiovascular rooms; locker rooms; and a lounge and juice bar.
UC dance team in national contest
UC - The University of Cincinnati dance team recently finished first in the hip-hop division at the 2004 College Cheerleading and Dance Team Nationals. It is the first national championship in team history.
The dance team's finish in hip-hop was its best ever and the sixth place finish in the overall competition was its best since a fifth-place effort in 1997.
NKU students to rally in Frankfort
NKU - About 100 Northern Kentucky University students are expected to board a bus Thursday and head to Frankfort to protest state budget cuts to higher education.
NKU students will meet with legislators in the morning and then team up with hundreds of their peers from other colleges across the state for a 2:30 p.m. rally at the Capitol Rotunda.
