DELHI TOWNSHIP - Sister of Charity of Cincinnati Madeline O'Hara taught at several Greater Cincinnati schools and was an office clerk at Seton High School in Price Hill in the early 1980s.
She also worked in the gift shop at Good Samaritan Hospital until a few years ago.
Sister Madeline died Jan. 20 at Mother Margaret Hall Nursing Home in Delhi Township. She was 79.
Born Madeline Rita O'Hara in Detroit in 1924, she was formerly known as Sister Virginia Mary O'Hara. Sister Madeline was a Sister of Charity for 59 years.
Sister of Charity Annina Morgan said,"She always had a smile on her face and made sure others enjoyed life, too."
After earning a bachelor's degree from the Athenaeum of Ohio in Cincinnati, Sister Madeline received a master's in education from the University of Dayton and a master's in mathematics from the University of Detroit.
She taught at St. Lawrence in Price Hill (1947-52), St. Martin de Porres in Lincoln Heights (1952-53), Holy Trinity in Middletown (1958-59), St. John the Baptist in Harrison (1959-60) and St. Albert in Kettering (1963-65).
Survivors include a sister, Kay Barrus of Detroit; and two brothers, Wendell Thomas O'Hara of Cleveland and Andrew O'Hara of Houghton Lake, Mich.
