Enquirer news services
ATHENS, Ohio - Sonny Troutman scored 14 points, including a go-ahead layup with 14 seconds left in overtime, to lift Ohio to a 67-64 win over Miami on Monday. Jaivon Harris made two free throws to pull the Bobcats (7-13, 4-6 Mid-American Conference) to within 64-63 with :33 left. Harris then grabbed a rebound off a missed MU free throw with :24 left.
After Troutman gave Ohio the lead, Jeff Halbert stole the ball and was fouled. Halbert made both free throws to put the Bobcats up 67-64 with a second remaining, and Miami (10-7, 6-3 MAC) couldn't get a final shot off.
Ohio trailed by as many as 11 points in the second half.
"We made some mistakes down the stretch," Miami coach Charlie Coles said. "Sometimes we don't play with a lot of smarts, but we always play with a lot of heart.''
BRACKET BUSTER: Miami will host Southwest Missouri State as part of the ESPN Bracket Buster at 5 p.m. on Feb. 21.
