Great Oaks offers Saturday kid classes

SHARONVILLE - The Great Oaks Institute of Technology is offering Saturday morning classes for students in grades 1-5 at its four campuses plus the Center for Economic Opportunity in Washington Court House and the Highland County Idea Center in Hillsboro.

The two-hour, four-week sessions begin Feb. 21. Classes begin at 8:30 a.m. or 10:45 a.m. Courses include animal care, art, computer-assisted drafting, model rocketry, go-kart mechanics and public safety services.

Walk-in registration will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Diamond Oaks, Live Oaks or Scarlet Oaks. An online catalog can be viewed at www.greatoaks.com.

Lemon-Monroe Hornet football coach resigns

MONROE - John Singleton is taking off one of his three hats.

Last week the Monroe Board of Education accepted his resignation as head Hornet football coach. He will remain Lemon-Monroe High School's athletic/activities director.

Woodward hosts forum with superintendent

BOND HILL - Woodward High School is hosting a forum tonight with Cincinnati Public Schools Superintendent Alton Frailey..

The forum, open to all parents of Cincinnati Public Schools students, will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the school, 7001 Reading Road.

District officials say the forum is an opportunity to ask the superintendent questions.

Rally to support $28M Madeira issue Sunday

MADEIRA - A campaign rally in support of a $28 million bond issue for the Madeira schools will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday at Sellman Middle School, 6612 Miami Ave.

The bond issue is on the March 2 ballot.

The bond issue would provide money to replace Dumont Primary and Sellman middle schools and expand the high school. The owner of a $100,000 house would pay an extra $240 per year.

Authors of 'Hana's Suitcase' to speak

MADEIRA - The authors of Hana's Suitcase - Fumiko Ishioka, George Brady and Lara Hana Brady - will speak at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Madeira branch of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, 7200 Miami Ave.

The event is one of several to discuss the Hana's Suitcase project, sponsored by the Center for Holocaust and Humanity Education at Hebrew Union College.

The Bradys also will speak in Norwood at noon Sunday at the Rookwood Pavilion, 2692 Madison Road. Workshops for educators will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at Western Hills High School auditorium, 2144 Ferguson Road; at 9 a.m. Saturday at Mayerson Academy, 2651 Burnet Ave., and at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday ) at Mayerson Hall, 3101 Clifton Ave.

Program explores child access to the Internet

MIAMI TWP. - An hour-long program about child access to the Internet will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday at Milford High School, 1 Eagles Way.

The program will be presented by i-SAFE, a nonprofit education foundation. For information call 831-2990.
