Mason employee to take over new job

News briefs

The Cincinnati Enquirer

MASON - The city has pegged one of its employees to be its first downtown/small business coordinator.

Economic Development Manager Paige Bryan, who was a candidate in a national search, will take over the new job March 1.

The position was created last year to carry out a downtown revitalization plan.

Date changes for final bike trail meeting

ANDERSON TWP. - Officials have changed the date of the fourth and final meeting later this month for the Five Mile Bike Trail.

The 6-7 p.m. open house originally scheduled for Feb. 19 at the township's main office off Beechmont Avenue now will be held Feb. 26.

Following the open house, Anderson trustees are expected to give the final green light to the $1.9 million project during their regular 7 p.m. meeting.

The 2-mile Five Mile trail is a big part of the popular 4-mile Anderson Trails network of bike/hike trails.

It will connect the State Road-Five Mile area with Turpin High School near Newtown Road, linking more than 1,100 homes with five schools, the Anderson Branch Library, the Mercy Center for Health and Wellness and Mercy Hospital Anderson.

Conservation-minded farmers welcome

OWENSVILLE - Farmers and individuals interested in conservation on agricultural lands in Clermont County are invited to attend a 2004 Agricultural Conservation Needs Assessment meeting from 9 a.m. to noon or 6-9 p.m. Feb. 17 in the 4-H Hall at the Clermont County Fairgrounds, 1000 Locust St.

Learn details about Farm Bill programs, including the Conservation Reserve Program, the Environmental Quality Incentives Program, the Wetland Reserve Program and the Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program. Participants in the program will also provide input to the Local Farm Bill Work Group, which determines what conservation practices should receive funding priority for 2004.

RSVP by Tuesday by calling 732-7075.
