Spears' next date may be with Bond

Britney Spears is asking for trouble, walking the streets of Manhattan wearing what looks like an engagement ring on her left hand. She was snapped leaving a downtown solarium last week. (Let's hope her tan lasts longer than her marriage to Jason Allen Alexander.)

Her rep says the sparkler is just flashy costume jewelry, and that the popular popster is very much single. But the spokeswoman was unable to comment on rumors that Spears might be following Halle Berry, Denise Richards and Kim Basinger into a coveted role in a James Bond movie.

The singer, who made her acting debut in 2002's Crossroads, is said to have met in London with producer Barbara Broccolito to discuss appearing opposite Pierce Brosnan in an installment of the super-spy big-screen saga.
