COVINGTON - A Holy Cross District High School football standout is facing a misdemeanor sex charge after an alleged incident last month at the Catholic school.

Monday, a warrant was issued for Rodney Stone, 18, of Cincinnati, charging him with sexual misconduct, a class A misdemeanor.

Police were talking to the teen's family in hopes that he would turn himself in, said Covington police Lt. Col. Mike Kraft.

If convicted, Stone faces up to one year in jail.

The sexual contact between Stone and a female student under 18 allegedly happened Jan. 13 at Holy Cross during a basketball game after school, Kraft said.

A teacher learned of it, talked to the girl and then to the principal, who called police, Kraft said. Stone has not been allowed in the building since the allegation arose but is still enrolled, said Diocese of Covington Tim Fitzgerald.

"The school will now take appropriate disciplinary action to bring the matter to a conclusion," Fitzgerald said.
