Decision delayed on renaming road
LEBANON - Warren County commissioners held off Tuesday from voting on a renaming a Deerfield Township road, delaying the decision until next week.
Commissioners wanted to make sure county officials had made no previous agreements to keep that part of the street named Wildcat Drive before they decided to rename it Wilkens Boulevard.
A public hearing on the matter will continue next week.
River Road bypass may stay three months
FAIRFIELD - A temporary one-lane bypass around the River Road landside area could take three months to open, much longer than originally announced.
City Manager Art Pizzano said the road damaged by Great Miami River flooding on Jan. 4 should be back in use in April or May, "if the weather cooperates." Two weeks ago, City Council was told a one-lane detour across Cincinnati's Charles M. Bolton Water Treatment Plant property may be ready by the end of February.
Cincinnati officials signed an agreement Monday allowing Fairfield to build a temporary one-lane road on its property, Pizzano said.
Council also voted Monday to seek $131,300 from the Ohio Public Works Commission for the emergency River Road bank stabilization. That amount is half of the estimated repair design and construction cost and doesn't include the temporary bypass, Pizzano says.
River Road provides access to U.S. 27 (Colerain Avenue), Northgate Mall, Ross Township, Oxford and Procter & Gamble Co.'s Miami Valley Laboratories in Colerain Township.
