Fake police officer strikes second time
ANDERSON TWP. - The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office is investigating the second incident in a week of a man impersonating a police officer and confronting juveniles.
The most recent incident occurred at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Forest Road and Meadowlane Drive, the sheriff's office said. The male suspect, dressed in a police-like uniform, approached a juvenile as he got off a school bus. The suspect, who identified himself as a police officer to the child, said, "Open your bag. I'm the police and I need to check for drugs."
The child yelled, "no," and ran inside his apartment complex, the sheriff's office said. The suspect fled on foot.
A similar incident was reported last week in Anderson Township, the sheriff's office said.
The suspect in Tuesday's incident is described a white man, possibly in his 30s, 5-foot-8 to 6-feet tall, clean-shaven with a medium build and brown hair and sunglasses, the sheriff's office said. He was wearing a uniform described as long sleeve, button-down style shirt, khaki pants and navy police hat. There were patches on the shoulder of the shirt that had a gold shield on them and the word "police" across the top.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's patrol division at 825-1500 or Crime Stoppers at 352-3040.
Murder suspect held on bond
SPRINGFIELD TWP. - The suspect in the killing of a man outside an H&R Block in Roselawn on Monday is being held in lieu of a $1.1 million bond.
Rodrick McGhee Jr., 22, of Springfield Township, was arrested Monday night after a standoff with the Hamilton County SWAT team at a house in the township. McGhee was charged with murder and two counts of abduction.
Investigators say McGhee shot Eion Dejenai Carter, 24, in Hillcrest Shopping Plaza about 1 p.m. after Carter left the tax office to take a cell phone call.
