COVINGTON - A Covington man has been indicted on charges he sent and received child pornography over the Internet.
A federal grand jury indicted Robert Paul Butts Sr. of Tripoli Lane on four counts of transmitting child pornography, one count of receiving child pornography, and one count of possessing child pornography.
Butts, who also goes by Robert Barber, sent videos of minors engaging in sexual conduct to Columbia, Md., and Merrifield, Va., in March and April 2003, the indictment states. In April, he received a videotape from Maryland that showed minors engaged in sexual conduct, according to the indictment. Butts also had 1,050 computer files of child pornography, the indictment states.
Butts is scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Covington on the charges Feb. 20. If convicted, Butts faces 25 years in prison and $500,000 in fines.
