MASON - A design for an early childhood center for the Mason Schools will be presented 7 p.m. Wednesday in the high school commons, 6100 S. Mason Montgomery Road.
Plans for an addition to the Mason Intermediate campus also will be presented.
The new school and the addition would be paid for by a 1.78-mill bond issue on the March 2 ballot. It would provide $35 million for the two projects. Debt would be structured so that taxes would not increase. Information: www.masonohioschools.com/growthinfo.cfm
School transfer deadline approaching
HAMILTON - Parents who would like their children to attend a different Hamilton Schools elementary or junior high building next fall have until March 1 to turn in their application.
Transfer requests will be considered in the order received. Families will be notified in June.
Forms can be picked up at any school building and should be returned to the principal's office of the school being transferred to.
Monroe board, council to meet
MONROE - A meeting between the Monroe Board of Education and Monroe City Council is 2 p.m. Sunday in the high school media center, 101 W. Elm St. Enrollment and population projections will be discussed.
Fairfield students to present 'Our Town'

Cagwin's contract at Talawanda extended
OXFORD - Talawanda Superintendent Phil Cagwin this week was given a two-year contract extension through July 31, 2006. His salary was not increased.
Kings' kids take on teachers in basketball
DEERFIELD TWP. - Kings Junior High students will take on their teachers at 1:45 p.m. Friday in a basketball game for the Pasta for Pennies campaign. Admission is $1.
The high schools will host a similar game that begins at 1 p.m. Feb. 19. Admission is $2.
Proceeds go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Franklin tax levies topic of discussion
FRANKLIN - A community round table on two issues the Franklin Board of Education has put on the March 2 ballot will begin 6:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at Franklin High School, 750 E. Fourth St.
A 7.43-mill combination levy includes 5.7 mills for day-to-day operations and a 1.73 mill bond issue that would add classrooms at seven schools.
A 0.39-mill bond issue would provide $2.45 million for improvements at the stadium and a multipurpose room.
If both are approved, taxes on a $100,000 house will increase by about $239 annually.
