Deaths apparent murder-suicide

By Reid Forgrave
The Cincinnati Enquirer

WEST PRICE HILL - A man shot and killed his ex-girlfriend outside her apartment complex here Sunday morning, then shot and killed himself 11/2 hours later, police said.

At about 12:25 a.m., residents at Westridge Apartments, 1907 Wyoming Ave., called police to report gunshots and a vehicle speeding away.

Police found Chenica Baxter, 23, a tenant, inside a white vehicle. Baxter suffered a gunshot wound to her head and was dead at the scene.

Authorities started looking for Jernarro Perdue, 24 of Westwood, in her slaying. Perdue drove to his sister's house on Hollenshade Avenue in Westwood, police said, and then shot himself.

Sunday morning, Westridge residents milled about and listened to a police scanner as officers taped off a crime scene. Then, about 1:50 a.m., residents heard on the scanner that Perdue had shot and killed himself.

Baxter's death is the seventh homicide this year in Cincinnati.

Baxter had a young son, said Michele Harrison, manager of the apartment complex.
