HARTWELL - Stroke victims are getting improved movement in their arms from an outpatient therapy recently launched at the Drake Center.
The program called "Modified Constraint-Induced Therapy" involves 10 weeks of sessions at Drake three times a week, plus five hours of work for five days a week at home.
In some patients, significant improvement in arm function has occurred even six years after the stroke occurred, according to a study by Dr. Stephen Page, a researcher at Drake Center.
The study was published last month in the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
