Man charged after being shot by police

A man who was shot and wounded by police, after they said he pointed a sawed-off shotgun at them, was indicted Tuesday on charges of assault and illegally carrying a weapon.

A Hamilton County grand jury indicted Jabari Dailey, 32, of Mount Auburn on two charges of felonious assault, carrying a concealed weapon and having a weapon under disability. He remains jailed pending a court hearing on the charges.

On Feb. 6, a uniformed officer stopped Dailey's car on Beekman Street in North Fairmount after police got a tip that he had drugs and was armed.

Authorities said Dailey ran and, at one point, aimed the gun at officers chasing him.

Officers Colleen Deegan and Chris Vogelpohl fired at Dailey. He was hit once in the shoulder.

Judge convicts man in child's shooting death

A 20-year-old Westwood man said in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court Tuesday that he left a loaded gun within reach of a child who accidentally fired it, killing his 7-year-old friend.

Judge Patrick Dinkelacker convicted Charles Crabtree of reckless homicide in the Sept. 22 death of Javontay Williams.

Javontay was with an 8-year-old friend in a Mount Airy apartment when the children discovered a handgun stuffed in couch cushions, police said.

Javontay's mother, Javonna Williams, stepped forward to speak during the hearing, but broke down when she looked at Crabtree. If convicted, Crabtree faces up to five years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 27.

Teens, adult charged in BB gun incidents

HAMILTON - Three Cincinnati-area teenagers and an adult were arrested in a pair of weekend BB-gun shootings, the Butler County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.

Andre Brewster, 18, also of the Cincinnati area, was arrested Monday on a charge of complicity to robbery. The three teens - ranging in age from 15 to 17 - face assault- and robbery-related charges.

Micah Webster, 20, of Hamilton, told police he was walking along the 4400 block of Hamilton-Middletown Road around 8 p.m. Sunday when four strangers approached him. One pointed a BB pistol at Webster and demanded money. When Webster refused, the person shot at his head four times.

Minutes later, a Butler sheriff's undercover drug officer reported shots fired at his vehicle as he drove along East Avenue in Hamilton. The officer followed the suspects' car into Fairfield, where police stopped the car and arrested the teens.

22-year-old indicted in shooting death

A 22-year-old College Hill man was indicted Tuesday in the killing of a man outside an H&R Block in Roselawn.

A Hamilton County grand jury indicted Roderick McGhee Jr. on charges of murder and two counts of abduction in the Feb. 9 shooting death of Eion Carter.

Investigators say McGhee shot Carter, 24, in the Hillcrest Shopping Plaza about 1 p.m.
