Some customers advised to boil water

WAYNESVILLE - Because of a drop in pressure, the village of Waynesville released a boil-water advisory for all water customers in Waynesville and Wayne Township, as well as any Warren County water customers on the township water lines.

Until the advisory is lifted - bacteriological testing typically takes two to three days - water should be boiled vigorously for at least three minutes before it's used for drinking or cooking.

Officials do not believe a health threat exists, although they cautioned water may appear slightly discolored with small air bubbles.

For more information, call the utilities superintendent at 513-897-3200.

Butler signs new transport provider

HAMILTON - Butler County is saving $894,000 by switching transportation providers for poor and ill county residents served by the county's Department of Job and Family Services.

Commissioners authorized a $1.79 million contract Thursday with Universal Transportation Systems. The current transportcompany, Eco-Van Inc., had bid $2.69 million for a second year of service.

About 75 percent of the medical trips are for doctor's appointments, dialysis and other medical reasons, says Jerome Kearns, assistant director of the county's Job and Family Services.

Golden Lamb plans to serve lunch again

LEBANON - The Golden Lamb Inn expects to reopen at 11 a.m. today and serve lunch for the first time since Wednesday.

The inn and restaurant has been closed since a 10-by-15-foot section of the roof collapsed, breaking the sprinkler system and causing water damage throughout the building.

Officials think the collapse was the caused by excess weight from equipment and gravel for a new roof.

Edgewood may legalize scooters

EDGEWOOD - Motorized scooters could soon be legal on Edgewood sidewalks. Edgewood City Council will consider an ordinance Monday that would allow residents to use electric scooters on city sidewalks. If approved, it would become law by the end of next week, City Administrator Roger Rolfes said. Riders would have to wear a helmet and yield to pedestrians. The new law also would prohibit speeds beyond 20 mph.

Villa Hills offers indoor activities

WILDER - Villa Hills residents are invited to the Town and County Sports Complex here at a free "City Night'' Feb. 28. Residents can take part in nearly a dozen activities between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m.. Things to do include swimming, basketball and volleyball, rock climbing, aero ball, indoor golf, a baseball hitting and pitching tunnel, a kids gym and a boxing ring.
